After exhaustive research I settled in on this unit based upon design/construction, size, and max pressure (15 psi). The unit arrived today, and after the cleaning process, I was eager to try it out so I made some pressure cooker rice pudding. It turned out awesome. The rice cooked in 8 minutes after a short warm up period.
Pros: solid construction. Stainless lid is heavy. Controls and valve are well marked and easy to use. Heats up fast! Cooks at max speed for classic stovetop pressure cooker recipes (15 psi, as opposed to 10 or 12 psi, like most other electric cookers). Easy to clean. Large capacity (over 6 quart). Heavy duty cord. Keeps warm after cycle is finished. Loud notification beep.
Cons: no glass lid included. Lid must be fully removed (some other models hinge).

I'm expecting this unit to last quite a while, by what I see so far. Quality of construction is impressive. I see no evidence of any of the issues that were mentioned in some of the other reviews. I do know, however, that there has been a redesign of the pressure valve to address one complaint about the design. Finally, when I called the company, the lady I spoke with was both knowledgeable, courteous, and caring about their product.
