Received this as a gift, and I love it! I never used a pressure cooker before, and this one is a great introduction to pressure cooking!

Like other reviewers have said, the manual could use a little more clarity. In particular, the locking mechanism isn't fully described: there is a metal peg (I think it's called the "push rod") that protrudes when the lid is midway through the locking process, but recesses both when the lid is unlocked and when it is locked. The push rod protruding does not mean that the lid is locked! The manual really doesn't say what the function of this push rod is, other than mentioning in the troubleshooting section that if the float is "seized by the push rod," the solution is to "push the rod with hands."

 To be honest, I didn't notice it at first because I used it several times successfully without looking closely at the locking mechanism. I just put the lid on, turned it, and started it cooking. Then when I saw this little metal thing come out when turning the lid to lock it, I thought maybe it was supposed be protrude to indicate the lid was locked. But with the rod out, pressure could never build up, and the manual didn't say whether it was supposed to be in or out. So I just turned the lid as far as it would go, and got cooking in no time.
